White slide background flicker / flash

Hi.

I have a problem where I'm seeing a white flicker / flash on loading before the first slide of my .swf movies. I have a grey (#CCCCCC) background to the page (called in the .htm file), a grey (#CCCCCC) background when publishing the slides and a grey (#CCCCCC) background to the slides themselves. I have also tried merging my background image to the sildes, but this does not solve the problem.

Here is a link to my captivate project http://www.360hrs.co.uk/learning-feedback/intro.htm

You can see when you naviagate from the menu in module 1 to any of the sub movies that you see this flash. If you CTR+N a new window when viewing the menu movie you can also see the white flicker / flash effect. Its as if the slide still has a white background applied.

I have checked and double checked the settings I was just wondering if anyone knew what could be causing this.

I'm using Captivate V2

Thanks in advance.

    Hi gunthead,

Though I dont have solution for the problem. But just in case, are you using _skin file generated by captivate. You may try switching off the borders, just in case you are using them, or change the color of borders.

Or go to Project-->preferences-->project background color. Try changing that color.

    thanks

    Hi DilbertG.

I have already tried that. I'm pressed for time so my solution was to make the backgrounds white and reflect this in my slide template. It has sorted it out, as I knew it would. Not the desired effect I wanted, as I wanted a grey background but it will have to do for now!

    Thanks for you help.

    Hi gunthead

Just a shot in the dark here. Have you tried clicking Project > Preferences and making sure the fade options are disabled?

    * Fade in on the first slide
    * Fade out on the last slide

I have no idea whether it will actually effect a change in the behavior, but it came to mind as something to try.

    Cheers... Rick

Hi Rick, thanks for all your help!

I've tried the suggestion but to no effect. I have been playing around with settings but still can't solve it. I noticed a few things:

It only appears once the files have been hosted, not locally
If you load the page and navigate back and forward (using back and forward buttons on the browser) or refresh you cannot see it.
It appears just on refreshes and first loads of the movie

It must then be something to do with the first slide properties, although it seems to appear before any of the movie loads. You can see this is you hit CLT+N a few time opening a new window.

I'm stuck to think where this white screen is coming from!

Thanks in advance for you help.
