Why am I getting a runtime error opening a Captivate 6 file in Captivate 8?

I am trying to open a Captivate 6 file with Captivate 8. I get a runtime error R6025 - pure virtual function call. I can open it from another computer, but not from my computer. What do I need to do?

    If you're not on Cp 8.0.1 then update your version and kill your Preference folder.

    If you ARE on the latest version then still kill your Preference folder.
