Question

Why are my text captions dissappearing when I publish my Captivate file?

I've looked through other posts and still haven't seen an answer to this question (though there are posts related to it). I have created a standard captivate 4 demonstration with basic text captions and highlight boxes. Everything plays fine in preview mode; however, when I publish the project, text captions on 3 out of 8 slides dissappear. They don't play at all - though the timing is correct for the slide duration. I've checked the timing of the individual text captions as well and they are all supposed to display for at least 6 seconds so they are fine...also, each text caption is marked as visible. There are no property settings different from the captions that display versus the ones that don't. I've never seen this happen before and I've been using Captivate 4 for several months now. If anyone has any ideas, I would appreciate it!

Hi there,

This is a long shot but might help to shed some light on this issue. Try opening a new instance of Adobe Captivate (just load the program again), create a new blank project at the same size as your original project. Next, select all the slides from your original project and copy them. Then switch to your newly created blank project file and try pasting all the slides. If you are successful, remove the blank slide that CP will have created by default and then save and publish the new file.

If the text captions on the all the slides remain visible, then this would be a clear indication that something in your original project file has become corrupted.

If this does not address the issue  please report this problem to the Adobe Captivate team using the link I have included below.

Thanks for the suggestion! That seemed to work. Though I am not sure what would have caused corruption in the first place! I also noticed just recreating the text boxes seemed to work as well. Hopefully this doesn't happen too often! Thanks again for responding to my question!
