Question

Why are my text captions getting cut off at the top?

The outline box of each caption does not overlap with any others, but some are getting cut off partially at the top, and some aren't. Why is it that what I see in the preview box doesn't match up with what I publish? I cannot for the life of me figure out what is cutting the tops of these captions off. Help!

Hi, if they are custom captions, the problem is likely to be the internal margins. Go to the Captivate gallery, and open the caption folder. copy the FCM file from a caption of a similar shape. The FCM file stores the internal margins. Rename the copy of the FCM file the same as your custom caption (keeping .fcm as the extension) and make sure it's saved in the same folder. You can also manually manipulate the FCM folder, but it's an annoying process - easier to cut'n'paste from another file.

The problem has fixed itself, seemingly on its own. I was cutting and pasting from a Powerpoint that had a lot of content, and I guess the formatting was cutting transferred over. It was invisible to me, but after issues with getting boxes sized properly around text (huge box, 2 words) I placed the cursor on the end and held the delete key down. It basically sucked up whatever invisible formatting was there, and the words began to behave normally.

Something similar is happening where it's affecting my bullet points being different sizes, but I haven't nailed that one 100% yet.

I am having this same issue ever since I downloaded SP3 for Windows XP? Rick, can you help. I am NOT cut and pasting anything. I am using Berlin Sans FB for this project. After I downloaded the service pack I had to change the size of all of my fonts in Captivate for all previously created projects.

Now, even if I create a new text caption some of the text captions are cut off at the top? Also, I used to be able to fix text issues with the highlight #C0C0C0 and now if I use this in the text caption it makes the text blurry. It FIXES the text being cut off but I cant use it because the text is blurry. Help! Client need final product this week and I cant seem to fix this bug at all.

    Welcome to our community, WhiteScarf

Perhaps try checking the DPI settings for your PC? I believe these will affect display.

    To check the DPI settings:
    Click the Windows Start button
    Click Settings
    Click Control Panel
    Click Display
    Click the Settings tab
    Click the Advanced button
    Click the General tab

I believe typical settings here are 96 DPI

    Cheers... Rick

Is this just for viewing or does 96 DPI need to be set while publishing? I changed my display to 96 DPI and it didn't help anything. I'll try publishing while at this setting and see if it makes a difference.

Yeah it doesn't make a difference. Also others have said the text is cut off while viewing, and they are on completely different machines.
