Question

Why are states locked and how can I unlock them??

I would like to use "states" for a game. Have the user click on certain shapes with text that he thinks are the correct answers, and when he clicks it will be revealed if he is right or wrong. So when I go into state view, the "down" state makes the shape (or button) move to another area of the page and it's locked. I cannot get it unlocked so that I can put the shape wherever I want. I want to just leave it where it is. On a related note, I am completely dumbfounded as to why Captivate has these "over" and "down" states that make the button move around the page. Does anyone know why this would be useful in any way? It's actually quite annoying - every time I make a button I have to go into state view and delete the down and over states because of this. What use are buttons that move around the page and that users can't click on???

Anyway....does anyone know how to get the shape/button unlocked so that I can actually use the down and over states and make them do what I want?

Thank you,

Tanya

InBuilt states for interactive ibjects are locked in size and location ti

the bormal state. You need to use custom states if you want to move.

Actually custom states are locked. However, I did a new "down" and at least it stays in the correct/same position and doesn't jump around (I didn't want it to move, I wanted it to stay in the same position as the normal button)....but yes it is locked.

These issues seems like bugs. In order for me to get my button to work properly, I have to delete the existing "down" button, and insert a new one. Not sure where Captivate designers got the idea that users would want their buttons to jump around the page on hover and down motions...frustrating.

Did you install the patch released this week?
