Why can't I adjust audio from slide to slide in Captivate 7?

I just upgraded from Captivate 5.  Previously, I would record all audio on slide 1, then edit the project and adjust where the additional slides fall within the recorded audio by clicking on the button to start the next slide.  However, when I do that in v7, it is telling me it has reached the minimum time for slide 1 and won't let me make shorter by moving audio to additional slides.  Why?  How do I do this?  Clearly I'm missing something because this has never been an issue until I upgraded.
