Question

why different file sizes with a Save and Save As

If I save a project with Save and then immediately save it again with Save As under a different name, I've started noticing that often the Save As version is drastically smaller than the file first Saved. I expect the two files to be the same size and this is sometimes the case but not always. Any guidance as to what is going on would be appreciated.

Hi, Rick. That possibility (that Captivate is purging unused objects) never occurred to me. Thanks.

    HI mrfibuli

I think you are seeing a general housecleaning of things that were formerly in your library. For example, lets say you took a fairly large project. Perhaps 80 slides. Then you delete 60 slides. This would leave many items in the library. They would be there, but be unused. So you save as, and after a couple of times of doing this, the unused objects are purged from the file. This is why you are seeing a difference in size.

    Sincerely... Rick
