why do my smart shape buttons only react once per slide?

Hi,

New to Captivate. Using Captivate 8 on Windows 8.1.

I've created a set of smart shape buttons and they are set to appear throughout the project and on top... so they are always visible.

Why do they only respond once to a click on each slide? More importantly, how do I get them to respond to any number of clicks on each slide?

I want to use them to run an advanced action throughout the project and I want the user to be able to trigger the advanced action any number of times on each slide.

Thanks

Pete

Sorry, keep forgetting to look at the other panels. In this case, the Pause After: isn't checked. I had to check the Place Object on Top just to keep it visible throughout the project.

Thanks,

Pete

If the button is pausing, and you trigger an advanced action you will be able to click that button as many times as you want.

Problem with a shape button timed for the rest of the project is that the pausing will occur at the same time on each slide! Have a look at my old article concerning Shape buttons.

Need more details: did you set the shape buttons to pause, and if yes when? That pause will be at the same time on each slide, no way to change for a shape button that is timed for the rest of the project. Can you post a screenshot of the advanced action they are triggering? Which exact version number are you using? Is this a Blank or a Responsive project? How did you test?

Hi there and thanks for the response.

I don't know how to tell a smart shape button to pause. I've looked but haven't found an individual timeline for the smart shapes. They are timed for the entire slide in the slide's timeline and set to appear for the entire project. They do in fact, appear throughout the project. So far I haven't added any advanced actions to these buttons. I can tell they are not working only because the roll over effect only works once on each slide. I can roll over and click each button only once one each slide and see the effect.

I am using version 8.01.242 and I updated all my interactions this morning. This started as a blank project and I've tested it by previewing the project and by publishing and testing the project. I get the same results in both cases.

Thanks,

Pete

Pausing is in the Timing Properties panel and you can see the timeline on

the first slide.
