Question

Why does a lightbox crash an iPad?

When we use an iPad to click through a Captivate 9 activity that we created, it kind of crashes when it comes to a lightbox. In Chrome, we get the "Aww Snap" screen. In Safari, the activity just starts over. This doesn't happen when the activity is played on a laptop--it plays without a problem. The only work around that I can think of is to create a separate slide to stand in for the lightbox so maybe it'll play more smoothly on an iPad.

Anyone have any ideas on what we could do to remedy this?

Thanks!

Which version iPad are you using?  Is it one of the early ones such as an iPad2 or iPad 3?  If so, your issue could be related to running out of RAM.

Most iPads don't have a lot of RAM at the best of times and some courses simply ask too much of them.  When your course causes the RAM usage of the mobile browser to reach a certain threshold, the iPad will crash the browser to protect the operating system.

There are free apps you can install that allow you to watch the RAM usage. I suggest you install a couple and see if your issue could perhaps be connected to this.
