Question

Why is there not a null/no color swatch? Can I make one?

I wanted to set the stoke color at null/no color. Somehow, one of my Smart Object boxes on one of the Master Slides had a stroke color assigned to it, and even though the stroke weight was set to zero, it was still showing up. Not sure whether it would have appeared in output or not, but regardless, it was distracting to me and I wanted it gone. I could not choose "none" from the stroke color dropdown, nor from the swatch pallet, and even the Object Style Manager wouldn't let me apply it. In the end, I had to go in to one of the other pages where the Sub-title was appearing correctly, and use the Properties tab to "Save changes to existing style," only then did the stroke color go away from that particular object. But it would have been a lot easier if I had just been able to click the stroke color box and select null/no color, or even alpha 0, as in every other Adobe application I use.

Is this an option? Am I missing something?

Sure, it'll probably look fine on output. But I SEE it when I am building my project. So how am I to know if it's ACTUALLY set to zero and won't show up in output, or if it's somehow, unintentionally been given a stroke? I have to keep checking objects to make sure the stroke weight is set to zero, when I should be able to just set it (by which I mean selecting the null swatch for the stroke color), and forget it. In my opinion, this situation is absolutely ridiculous. Adobe has this feature in every other design, layout and/or graphics application they offer, and it *IS* possible in Captivate, because there are many objects that have, by default, null or no color strokes and/or fills, indicated by a swatch with the red line through it. It just (absurdly) isn't in any color palette. It should ALWAYS be present in the swatch manager, and every color palette in Captivate, whether default, theme or custom.

It is really irritating. I know you don't work for Adobe, and I appreciate your blog a lot. I'm not yelling at you with my caps, but I do hope Adobe hears me. It is just absurd in 2015, that they left this feature out of the program. It boggles my mind, and frankly, whomever is responsible should be reprimanded and tasked with writing the patch that fixes it immediately.

Normally No stroke is the same as width=0. When published it should have been OK, unless it was something else than the stroke. Was it a shape button or just a shape as text container.

I will always start with setting all styles in the Object Style Manager, much easier to manage styles than when you are overriding styles locally.

It's not available in the Object Style Manager, either.
