I would like to create my own widget.

I have followed the path: file->new->widget in flash, but the widget in flash option is not avaliable.

Any suggestions?

Due to another software that still requires Action Script 2, I need to stay on Captivate 4 and Flash CS5.  Is anyone aware of a patch that can fix this?

Hi there

Do you have Adobe Flash installed on your computer? If so, are you fluent in programming assorted objects using Adobe Flash?

Cheers... Rick

Hey Captiv8r, I have a related question... I'm running Cap 3 and I made my own little drag/drop activity using Flash 8, and wanted to import it into my Captivate project. I used the Insert > Animation option and selected my published swf. It appears on the Captivate stage, but when previewing or publishing and watching from the published HTML, it appears as a big blank spot.

In this Flash activity I removed all references to root (not that it should've hurt things), and it's not calling any external assets... any idea why it wouldn't work? Is it because it's not technically an animation, and is that what the Captivate 4 widget support is supposed to provide?

Danka!

Hi Danny

I am no Flash person at all. I've been exposed to the "designer" side of the application by attending two separate Flash classes and I still open the application and am largely bewildered. I guess I'm either too much of a simpleton to grasp it or maybe the ActionScript side of things would help to clear it up.

I can fathom a few different things that could be at play.

First, I believe that only Captivate 4 understands ActionScript 3. So if your animation was created using AS3, that might have something to do with it.

Or, maybe it's being treated as an externally loaded object and for some reason isn't being found. Are you certain both the Captivate SWF and your SWF are in the same folder?

Or perhaps the Flash Player security is blocking activity. So it never hurts to ensure you have added your testing location folder to the list of acceptable folders for Flash to work from.

Aside from that, perhaps another author can offer more or better insight!

Cheers... Rick
