Word PrintOutput Template Customizations

I looked through the various forums and did not see a post on this, so I apologize if one already exists.

I would like to know if anyone has had any experience editing the Microsoft Word Templates found in the PrintOutput folder of Captivate 4? I have the document that shows all the tags and describes them but when I try to implement the simplest of tag structure it is causing Captivate to crash which tells me I am doing something wrong.

Ideally, what I am trying to do is to update the Lesson template so that the screenshot included is the same as the one in the Storyboard template. If anyone could point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,

Chris

I posted this to another thread, back in August:

https://forums.adobe.com/message/6345524#6345524

I had some luck today finding the ancient documentation for this. (One poster mention that it may be from Cp2 or Cp3.)

Here is the outdated link to the original location:

http://www.adobe.com/devnet-archive/captivate/articles/wordoutput/adobecaptivate_wordoutpu t_documentation.pdf

But, this now turns up a 404 error, and searching Adobe DevNet for anything related to Captivate is worthless!

As of Aug 8, 2015 - I believe I located a viable link:

http://docslide.us/documents/adobe-captivate-word-output-documentation.html

You can copy text from this preview, but if you click the the download link it will give you access to a PDF version, after a 30 second delay!

Brilliant!  That's the document I remember from many years ago.

Now wouldn't it be WONDERFUL if Adobe in the next version of Captivate provided a dialog or interface that allowed you to customize and save your own Word Templates for printable versions of your course?

This has been a long-standing weakness of Captivate and it REALLY needs to be addressed.  People trying to create Accessible documentation for 508 compliance desperately need this facility.

I'd like to re-energize this inquiry.  I too have the same desire to modify or create a PrintOutput template to extract a subset of information from my CP5 projects, but have found no documentation or

data description overview.

1) does anyone have the document or URL for "the  document that shows all the tags and describes them" that Chris mentions in his original post?

2) has anyone successfully created templates for PrintOutput use?  Is there any tutorials or procedures out there?

Thanks,

Pat

Thanks to some resouceful folks, the "documentation" is at:

http://www.adobe.com/devnet-archive/captivate/articles/wordoutput/adobecaptivate_wordoutput_documentation.pdf

But two issues remain:

1)      The document above is circa CP2/CP3 and does not obviously cover Slidelets.   Anyone know of a newer document or have any suggestions on getting the captions in a slidelet to output from a CP5 project?

2)      I am also using $$cpInfoCurrentSlideLabel$$ as a header on my ContentSlides.  The template pulls in the variable name, but not the content of the variable.  Any suggestion there?

Thanks,

Pat

Hello,

What do you mean by your second question: "the template pulls in the..."? Did you label the slides, and how are you looking at the result: previewing or after publishing?
