Question

Youtube Widget Doesn't Work on Different Computer

Hi again,

I am working in

On a Mac

The problem I am having now involves the Youtube widget. I have made a lesson and attached the Youtube widget. We just want to stream the video to reduce the size of the file. Anyway, I set it up and it runs exactly as it should on my computer. After I get a Captivate file put together I save it on my hard drive then I put it on my company's sharing system so that others can view it. My super opened the file and everything works, except for the widget. We are running the same versions of Captivate and all the links look correct. Our Macs are on the same OS.

How can we fix this problem? Is it on my end or the other's?

Thanks-a-million,

Kellie

Kellie,

What does the URL look like as a link to the YouTube video?

Is there any chance you have a copy of the file on your computer and have linked to it instead of the YouTube URL?

That would explain the 'it runs exactly as it should on my computer,' but 'everything works, except for the widget' on you super's computer.

I am sorry for the lateness of my response.

I used the address from the URL bar on the Youtube page to link the widget. They decided not to use that video, but if you have any suggestions that will make the widget work correctly, I am all ears. Maybe on the next project I can find a way to use your input.

I think you may be running into a security issue that is preventing the content from working from your sharing site.  Try uploading the content to a web server and test from there.  That usually gets around this kind of issue.
