Question

zooms/visual mouseclicks behave strangely when exporting to flash 8

hi,

i'm new to the forum although i've worked in captivate and flash for awhile. a colleague and i are seeing some strange behavior when he attempts to pull my captivate 2 content in flash 8. the captivate visual mouseclicks, which seemed to work fine exporting from captivate 1, now aren't porting over at all. the mouseclick layer in the flash timeline is completely blank.

also, we're trying to leverage the new zoom feature in captivate 2; however, there are problems there as well. the borders we're setting on the zooms aren't being preserved in flash, and the zoom area itself comes in as an anti-aliased bitmap, so it's nowhere near as crisp and legible as it needs to be.

we can't really spend the time to go into the actionscript and manually fix these things, so i'm hoping there's a more expedient way to address these issues.

are these items known bugs or is there a resolution, something i can do upfront in captivate, so that everything comes into flash correctly?

many thanks,
brh

Hi brh,

My experience (and trust me, it's long, painful scaring experience) of importing Captivates into flash is this. Don't. It's painful, depressing and it produces unpredictable results.

However, I do you a flash container to control the display of my captivates, and that's easy. Just publish them as swfs from captivate and then use flash to do the rest. That way you keep the Captivate goodness without all the horrible pain, but you also get to include it into great, engaging eLearning that Flash lets you produce.

Hope that helps

Cheers
