Tell your client to forget it. I tested Smith ColdFusion 3 or 4 years ago, but abandoned it when I realized there was progressively less activity on the project.

Even then, it had too many restrictions for my liking, and excluded too many tags and functions. As far as I can tell, the project has as good as folded.

Oh, and in case you're looking for an Open Source ColdFusion server, then get Railo.

Smith Cfserver (SmithOS) still can be found at ::

    http://sourceforge.net/projects/smithos/

Witness and Get involved for development web (CFServer) from the beginning.

CFM tags/CFserver can develop all kinds of modern web application.

The tags similiar like HTML, but powerful. Many built-in control like desktop program in VB.

ALSO, did you know coldfusion server based on java, still can execute .JSP

You may join him to collaborate CFServer and utilize that program.

Agreed. Even if the Smith product were more mature it would be tough to climb the reputation barrier of Blue Dragon for a while.

I think it would really have to offer something above and beyond, and I am not seeing it based on the limited information I have.

My experience with it was that it really isn't quite ready for prime time yet. My feeling is that now with BlueDragon J2EE becoming open source, and being a far more mature and easy product to run existing CFML code on, the Smith Project probably won't get that much interest.

No experience, knowledge or review of it, but I have heard of it.
