coldfusion fading out?

hey,
I personally think coldfusion is fading out since macromedia released flex, even through flex was built on/with (whatever) coldfusion. Do you guys feel the same?

Also, i'm not that good at programming, just starting out, i see so many limitations for coldfusion. Right now, i'm building my 4th big project on coldfusion mx7, so many times i find that i'm unable to do sometihng that other applications can do like nothing. What do you guys suggest for this? Learn new language such as asp.net?

Another question i've is that many people are now converting to flex, whats the reason behind this? Is it easier, faster and better looking codes or something?

Kind a interesting questions i couldnt find answer to.

Thank you,

As you're admittedly an incompetent programmer how do you know when you are "unable to do sometihng that other applications can do like nothing" it is a fault of Coldfusion and not your own limited skill set. Can you give some examples?

that is true that i have limited skills. Thats why i stated that i'm a starter. For example, i was trying to accomplish generating squence number yesterday, but i couldnt find any examples or thought pieces that would relate to my project.

Also, that was just yesterday, i encounter 1 problem every month or so where i cant accomplish something. I agree coldfusion is a really nice application, but trying to figure out above questions.

Definitely not fading out. We've been hearing that for about 10 years now it seems. See my reply in the Coldfusion, PHP or .NET thread.

What in particular are you having problem doing? I can't say I've run into much that wasn't easily enough worked around. There certainly are many things as well that ColdFusion does so beautifully and simply that's a total pain to do in other languages.

    >>Of course, you are just another incarnation of Andy, AKA SliceOfLife.

incorrect. (not even close either - don't you know how to tell yet??)

    >>Stay away from my Web sites.

I think you pretty much sealed the deal for him now. Yet another one off to
    asp.net or php land.

incorrect - the 'lone poster' theory falls down yet again.

You are scary, man. 4th big project with ColdFusion? Just starting out? Not that good at programming? Many limitations? Stay away from my Web sites.

Of course, you are just another incarnation of Andy, AKA SliceOfLife.
