I am planning to test out Adobe Connect. One of the biggest concerns that I have is its compatibility with other Adobe softwares. Is it compatible with any in the Adobe Creative Suite CS5 or Adobe Visual Communicator?

Well, Adobe Visual Communicator offers the ability to create movies from a production you create and once complete is saved as an FLV file which can then easily be shared using the Adobe Connect Share Pod. Works great. As for CS5, lots of things can be done with CS5 and Connect. Photoshop allows you to create PNG and JPEG images which can be shared in Connect. Adobe Flash Professional I use all the time to create SWF files of avatar speakers for my Connect rooms. I use the Xrranormal site to create avatars and the scripts they speak then I import that movie into Flash to add movie play buttons and wrap it into a SWF file that can easily be shared in the Connect Share Document pod. I use Adobe Media Encoder to change media types to FLV or SWF so they can play inside a Connect room.  Lots of uses for CS5 and Connect. CS5 is used as a content contributor to Adobe Connect which is sued to collaborate what was created. Visual Communicator is used to create great production quality FLV files which can add lots of valuable video content to Adobe Connect.

Any Adobe Flex application can be used with Connect 8 to create collaborative objects.

Good question. Adobe Connect 8 was specifically developed to join the rest of the Adobe family. The front end was developed so AS3 based apps will work with Flex based applications that will run natively inside an Adobe Connect 8 room. Attendees can all collaborate on that same app at the same time. With Flash Professional you can create great Flash based apps. Understand, they have to be encoded for Flash 9 though for the current Connect 8.....because Connect 8 is using the previous version of Flash 9 as it's base. As we move from Connect 8 to 8.x and 9 then you will see Flash 10 become the base along with the latest FMS server built in. You can use PDF document  inside a Connect room as well.

So, any PDF or Flash app or Flex app can be used inside a Connect room all developed from CS5.

Were there specific things you had in mind that I can add value to?

I was hoping that it would have some kind of compatibility with any of the Adobe CS5 suites and/or Adobe Visual Communicator.
