Hello all!!

I'm having problems printing from adobe 8.12. It says while I have a PDF file opened that "unable to start print job. Is printer available" message. I can print from word and excel but not from adobe reader 8.0? why not? any suggestions would be helpful, thanks in advance.

I could not get a cleanup utility to work.

So instead I found this free acrobat reader program and made it my default. Works fine. It's open source.

Before you can troubleshoot the problem, you need to determine its cause.

You said that I can print from word and excel but not from adobe reader 8.0 If that file prints correctly, the problem isn't system-wide--it's specific to the Acrobat product. However, the way Acrobat interacts with the system may affect printing performance.

You may also try these: -

    - Restart your computer, and then print a PDF file:
    - Turn off your printer for at least 15 seconds to flush its memory, and then turn it back on and print a PDF file:
    - Print from another computer:
    - Print the PDF file as an image.
    - Re-create the PDF file to determine if the original PDF file is damaged and causing the problem.
    - Print the PDF file in batches to determine if a particular page, or object on a page, is causing the problem.
    - Print using the default settings to determine if a variant print setting causes the problem.
    - Delete Acrobat temporary files.
Excess temporary files can cause Acrobat to freeze or appear to freeze when you print.
    - Print with Windows in a Simplified mode.
    - Use the latest version of the Acrobat product.
    - Use an updated printer driver.
    - Use an updated PPD file.
    - Install a printer driver that's compatible with your operating system.
-Ensure that the printer has enough memory.
