Question

Animations in Powerpoint

After creating a presentation in PPoint, I then set the animation timing using the SLideShow/Reherse Timings.....it is timed g8 in PP...but when I publish it to Breeze it does not keep the same timing sequence. There is no voice or music. The only alt. I have found is to check the "pause" after each animation....this is a pain on viewing...the user must click each time there is an animation.

So...is there a way to keep the same animation that you set in PP to olay in Breeze?

    MJB,

The problem you're reporting has been noted by MM/Adobe for quite some time; and as such, "downgrading to SP1" isn't an option in my group, b/c our IT dept won't allow it. My sincerest wishes that you don't have to cross that bridge...

What I've done in the past to "rectify" the inability to playback an animation that doesn't have any audio/music on a given slide was this: I stripped *all* of the animation timings for the elements on a slide, and reset them to various alternatives (on click, with previous, after previous, etc). I roughly timed the overal playback duration (a recent one I did lasted approx 16 seconds). My next move was to change the audio duration of the slide using the Audio Editor dialog box in Breeze. When the Audio Editor dialog box appeared, I double-clicked the appropriate slide in the timeline, selected Insert from the menu, and entered the approximate time of silence needed. From there, it was off to the Synchronize Audio dialog box where I activated my animations accordingly.

If any additional tweaks were necessary, I could go back to the Audio Editor dialog box and adjust the entry points by dragging the tick marks as needed.

This by no means suggests that it's any easier or more efficient, but it's worked for me in the past. I realize that it also potentially throws a pretty BIG wrench into the process of correcting/developing your ppt deck, especially after you've already done the work of setting animation timings inside PowerPoint. Outside of creating the anim in flash, this was the only way to deal with the problem of keeping animations intact despite no audio on a slide.

    Hi mjb:

Perhaps you are running into this known issue?:

Timing on PPT animations are not appearing as they should

    PROBLEM:
When converting PowerPoint presentations with Audio synced with
animations the animations aren't appearing at the right time.

    REASON:
This can happen if you are running Office 2003 SP2.

    SOLUTION:
Engineering is aware of this issue and are working on a fix.

A temporary solution would be to downgrade to Office 2003 SP1 until a
    more permanent fix is available.

If not, please provide more info on timing problem and I'll attempt to
    reproduce here.
