API - Create event linked to seminar room?

What additional steps are needed to create an event linked to a seminar room using the Adobe Connect API? When I call sco-update and pass the source-sco-id of the seminar room, the event is created and shows it's linked to the seminar room, but when I go to view the event, it displays an error "There is no template associated with this event." It won't even allow me to manually set an event template. It also doesn't appear to be scheduling the seminar session.
