Question

Audio sync when recording downloaded

Hi, when I download a recording from the connect server as a flash file, the audio tends to get out of sync. Typically our recordings are around 1 - 2 hours long, so it can be quite annoying

Any hints on ways to avoid this, or software we can use to resync the audio?

Thanks heaps

Jim

This has been a problem for some time now. I was under the impression that Connect 8 solved this problem?

None the less when I experienced this problem I contacted Adobe's support and within a day or 2 they have sent me back a working flv. They are really amazing, maybe you can give them a call?

Understand that when you opt for a local FLV file then the local PC is used to create that and it is important that no hidden processes like email retrieval be running at the same time. This process is CPU intensive and the local PC better be in good shape memory and disk wise. I suggest the hard drive is defragmented so that there is not any kind of lag created when packets get thrown all over the disk (which slows down the hard drive data retrieval process).

Another option.....one that does not require that local creation and one that may save time. Download the new Adobe Connect Desktop which has a feature to watch the recordings locally and offline. It uses a different process and there is no FLV created. You can get that client from connectusers.com.

This sounds like good advice, and I'll follow up on checking the fragmentation of the disk on my Mac, etc. The new Adobe Connect Desktop option also sounds really interesting, although I'm not sure I understand how that works. But I'll look for more information on that as well.

Where do I find the server URL that you need? Is this it: http://connect20225841.adobeconnect.com/admin/home/homepage?account-id=997406734&principal-id=997387332 ?

That is a known bug and being worked. It is expected to be addresed soon in the next release end of May of Connect 8.

I'd like to tag along on this thread, if I may.  Our organization has just signed up on a monthly program with Connect 8 and I am also having A/V sync issues on downloaded programs.  As with the issue described in the post from HavillandHornet, we are having problems holding sync in our downloaced .fv's of programs , which range in 15-30 minutes in length.

I understand that .flvs were, originally at least, not created to hold sync for long periods, although we get pretty good results when just playing back the recording off the Adobe server.  It's just the playback of the downloaded file that gives us trouble  I'm wondering if there is any way to set the download to record in a more sync-friendly format?    I'm certainly not having much luck in converting the .flv to an editable format, like .mov to make sync adjustments and cleaner trims.

We began using Connect 8 around the first week of May, and the upgrades your indicated may not yet be operable. What is the status on that? Will those fixes affect the sync integrity on the recorded download or just the online playback.

Any enlightenment, work arounds or general bright ideas would be very helpful.

The SP1/HU1 update to hosted customers began a week ago. SInce I do not have your server URL I cannot tell. If you send me a direct email to hdrummon@adobe.com I'll look up your server and see what version you are on and what the update cycle is expected. That update is now called Adobe Connect 8.1.1 and is to be available this week or next for on-premise customers.
