Camera vs Phone images

Have pictures form recent trip - my wife used her phone and I used a camera. After downloading pictures, i wanted to put them in sequential order by combining both the phone and camera photos. Unfortunately I was unable to do so.  The program keeps the photos separate by source.  Is there an easy method to accomplish this? I would appreciate any feedback you can provide.
