Question

Connection speed test never returns?

I hoped to take a Mathematica tutorial which runs on Adobe Connection.

But the "Connection Speed Test" never returns!

What can I do?

I have a Mac Powerbook running Mavericks

I wouldn't worry too much about it. It is just an informational test, and has no bearing on your ability to join a meeting. It also takes quite a while to return with your 'speed', so it can seem like it isn't working.

As an alternative, you can try this link for my Connect account: Test Meeting Connection and see if it works any better.

Thanks for the info. I used your Test Connect link.   The Adobe Connect add-in finally installed after a few crashes. So I’m all set, I think, but missed my meeting which was at 9 am (PST) today.

Do I still have to purchase/download a separate Adobe Connect application?  This has never been mentioned in any recent interactions regarding the meeting. Excuse my ignorance!

No, all you need to join a meeting is Flash Player (11.2 or newer if a current version of Connect). The Add-in is only required if you are going to share your scree, but can't hurt to have. It is a one time installation, unless a newer version comes out with a future release of Connect. If the first two steps of the 'test' pass, you should be fine to join any meeting.
