eLearning Options - Web and CBT

Hello everyone! My name is Eric Hartmann; this is my first post! I am a multimedia designer newly employed at the Arizona Supreme Court as an Education Specialist. I have been working in eLearning now for a couple of years building animations and interactives with Flash and uploading to an LCMS. The Court has been using Authorware to build and publish our CBTs, but it turns out that Authorware is not supported on Windows Vista and information about an update is not avaiable. Of course, the entirety of the AZ Supreme Courts is migrating to the Vista platform sometime near October. Could be an issue!

This brought me to research if there were other software options available for CBTs and web delivered training (as I suspect in the future we may additionally go that direction). I have heard that something along the lines of Breeze or Connect might do the trick for us, but my impression is that Breeze was more like an LMS but is now discontinued, and that Connect is more of a video conferencing tool. Can anyone give me some options? I am looking to be able: publish either to a CD or the web, create the content in Flash, control testing / metrics / logins / etc in the new program / LCMS.

Any information at all would be very much appreciated! Feel free to post here or contact me directly. Peace and thanks!

    Hi Eric,

First off, to clear a little confusion: Connect 6 is the successor to Breeze 5. They are the same product, Adobe just decided to rename Breeze.

Connect is made up of a few different parts - the online meeting space, the training space, and an event space that can wrap around a meeting or training. In the training portion, you can host CBTs, make quizzes, etc. In the meeting portion, you can broadcast audio and voice, take polls, share your screen, upload files, etc.

There is also Presenter, originally part of Connect but now a separate product. This is a plugin for PowerPoint, a "dumbed-down" Captivate, and from there you can publish to a CD, to a Connect server, or just to a file.

I don't know when Adobe is going to start supporting Vista -- you can probably call a support rep and ask.
