Error trying to launch Connect 7 upgrade

All I have done was download the CESL_7_ESD1.exe file to my desktop. When I try to run it I get the error: "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item".

I suspected a correct download, so I re-downloaded the file but go the same results. Of course, Adobe provided zero upgrade documentation... 😞

I found the solution to this. Apparently you have to be logged in a *local* administrator for this exe to work. Logging in as domain admin did not work. That would have been something nice to have in the documentation. Wait, who am I kidding? There's no documentation....lol

I am running (or rather attempting to run) to setup.exe from the local machine. I know it's not a permissions issue on the folder because I /can/ run the edgesetup.exe in the same directory. The only difference between the two files that I can tell (beside the obvious name and size) is Windows warns me the setup.exe is not 'digitally signed' while edgesetup.exe is.

That didn't work either. As a bit of a test, I copied the setup.exe file to my production Connect server and it worked! The download works as an upgrade, but not as a fresh install? Odd. Thing is, I need to install this on a test server before I go live. Is there some kind of 'full install' version out there?

The installer, trail or ESD should work as a new install, not an upgrade if you are not installing it to a path where old config files are or on a system where it has never been installed. A blank system, new DB etc. should give you a full non upgrade install.
So on your production system it would always run as an upgrade.

About the initial error you get "Windows cannot access ... " do you have the correct permissions on the file, the directory you run it from and the target directory?

    Hi,
this sounds a bit like the file you downloaded got somehow corrupted.
    Try the trial installer: http://www.adobe.com/go/breeze_license_trial_en

With a valid serial and license this will work just as the one you tried to download.
