FLV playback ???

Hi there,

i have uploaded a FLV file to the Content Library and then wanted to share it in the meeting room. But even though I could upload it, i could even have connect to open a display with a playback controler, BUT THE VIDEO DOES NOT PLAY. The display is black.

I know I could take advantage of converting the video to SWF format, but that DOES NOT GIVE ME THE PLAYBACK CONTROLER. So this way I have the video but i cannot pause it, rewind it etc.

And what Im really after is that controler cause I do not have the capacity to be creating all the video file into swf and addind some controlers manually.

So I wonder why the FLV (native flash video format) does not play correctly in Connect meetings. I have workshops where video is very important but I need a tutor to control the playback. And at the same time I need the tutors to prepare their videos themselves and I cannot ask them to develop some extra SWF VIDEO CONTROLERS ...

so what do I do with my FLV??

    Your problem is caused because ConnectPro is still not using the latest version of Flash for playback. Your video must be encoded using the older Sorenson Codec rather than the new On2 VP6 Codec as used on sites such as YouTube.

    If your video is encoded using the new codec, it will show up as a black pod inside your meetings even though it will play OK if launched as a piece of content from the Adobe Enterprise Server. There's really no way around this but to recode your video.

    If you want to play an FLV in the share pod in Connect, you need to publish the FLV file to Flash 7 or earlier. This will allow you to play the FLV in the share pod. If you are putting it in a Adobe Presentation, you will need to publish the FLV to Flash 6.

    Some things to try:

    If you are creating the presentation in PowerPoint, publish the presentation, with 'Zip Output' checked, then upload the zipped file to the server. Also make sure your hyperlink that links to the FLV is correct. It must follow this format:
    http://companyname.acrobat.com/flvname (no extension at end of url)
    This format works if you are using and Adobe Connect server. When you upload the FLV, use the custom url field to name the flv; it can only be alphnumeric, no extension at end.
