how can I allow guests to register then proceed directly to a "course"?

I have a "course" which is really an exam of sorts (it's a marketing tool). I want to allow anyone on the planet to come to a URL, register for this exam, then be taken straight to the exam. No approval is required.

The exam is on the Connect server, and based on the documentation, I set up a registration page using the Event Management. However, when I register as a test through another email, I get the webpage that says "thanks for registering, you'll hear back from us", as if the registration has to be approved by the course manager. Aside from the fact that I as the course manager have never received the email (a different issue), this isn't what I want anyway...after registration, I want the registrant to go straight to the exam (the content created from Presenter that I have uploaded).

Perhaps my problem is setting this up as an event (which it really isn't), but the documentation doesn't tell me another way to set up a registration page...I suspect the answer is obvious, but I am just spinning my wheels here...thanks!

    Your setting listed is the right one, under Edit Information for the event. If the box is un-checked, then registrants should be automatically approved. I would also go into the Email Options tool and uncheck the approval pending email (as it becomes irrelevant) and make sure the approval email is checked. You may also want to edit the approval email so that it doesn’t include the iCal attachment, as plain text emails with links and attachments tend to end up in junk boxes.

    Then register for the event and validate that you get the approval email. Also validate that the link takes you to the event (it may ask you to log in).

    The current Connect Events module is, well, simple. I wouldn't expect much more than you are seeing, and it sounds like you have the approval setting to requiring the Event Manager. Unfortunately, the only way you see pending registrations is to log in and check the registrant list. If you set the event to automatically approve registrants, then it will send them an email with a link, so not quite the functionality you are looking for.

    That said, you may want to look at a 3rd party tool, like ConferenceEdge or Connect Your Events, that will be a more robust events tool, and will more likely meet your need.     Jorma, thank you, your response is quite helpful.

    In fact, I could possibly live with the situtation you describe, wherein the registration would automatically generate an email with the exam's URL; however, I have been unable to find how to "automatically approve registrants", as you suggest. I have stepped through every page in Event Management of the current event, and haven't seen where I could do this. The only thing close is "Event attendees require approval after registration:         No", but your note suggests to me that there is another option somewhere else that I can't find...or it is something that you set up at the initial creation of the event but can't change after the fact?
