Question

Incorrect page numbering

When converting a Word 2007 docx to PDF (Acrobat 8.1 Professional) the page nuumbering changes. In Word I have 1 of 3, 2 of 3, 3 of 3. In the PDF I get 1 of 1, 2 of 2, 3 of 3.

The page numbering is contained within the footer. I have deleted the footer and added the page numbering format again.

I've tried creating the pdf two ways; opening Acrobat and clicking Create PDF, From File and also from within Word with the document open. Same result.

Is there something about the format of the page number that Adobe doesn't like? I know I can manually change the page numbering once the PDF has been created, and I will have to do that as a last resort, but surely the conversion should be able to handle simple page numbering.

Any suggestions would be most welcome.

Thanks

I am experiencing this same issue using Adobe Acrobat 8.2.4 and Word 2007. I have found only one suggestion that works, but it prevents you from being able to use Bookmarks or other advanced options in a PDF. If you make Adobe PDF your default printer, and print directly from Word to the PDF Printer, the page numbering is correct. However, if you use Bookmarks in your PDF, these are not created for your during the conversion, so the PDF loses alot of functionality.

Update: Tested the issue using the same documents but in v9 of Adobe Acrobat. The issue appears to be fixed in v9.
