Learners forced to Restart Course after New Version Published

Our issue is occurring when for example, a learner is not able to finish a course (created in Presenter) and exits out. We then republish a new version of the training (e.g., update needed, mistake, typo, etc.), then the next day when the learner returns to finish their training, they are forced to start from the beginning. As long as we don't publish a new version they are taken to where they left off. However, we are always needing to republish new versions, which is forcing a significant number of learners to have to restart the entire training. We use Adobe Connect as our LMS. Is there a way to fix this?

From my experience, what should happen with a Course in the Training module of Connect is that if a user is part way through a Course and exits they restart at the beginning of the last slide they viewed, and on the same version of the training that they started.

So, if a student is taking version 3 of the Course and they get 10 slides in, the next time they access the course, it should start with slide 10 of version 3. This should happen even if the course has been updated to version 4 and beyond.

Now there are a few variables as to how this could not work. I suppose my first question is, are you using the Training module of Connect? You use all the right terminology to indicate you are, but it never hurts to just be sure.

How are you updating your Courses? The normal work flow is to publish the new version to the Content library, either as a new content object or by updating and existing Content object. Then you access the Course in the Training library and update the content object it is tied to.

If you are removing the old Course from the server and replacing it with a new Course with the same name/etc. then it is seen as a new training object by Connect and will force the learner/student to start the new course from the beginning.

We update the course as you mentioned. First we update the existing content, then go to the course it is linked to and update the content there. The content is already selected and we just click Save to make sure it is updated. We noticed that even though the updated content is already linked to the course, we still have to go in and click Save. If not, for some reason the course does not get updated. We have been using Adobe Connect for several years and have never noticed this problem before.

Also not sure exactly where to check this for the training courses but if I go into a Meeting Room it looks like we are at version 9.4.2 of Connect.
