Pre-sales question re:video

Looking for a training solution that provides the following

1. Instructor will pre-record a video presentation to display during session.

2. To ensure that students are using proper technique, instructor will monitor students' webcams

3. Student webcam display should be available ONLY to instructor (instructor must share his cam with all, but not continuously)

4. ---> IMPORTANT: Instructor either needs to see multiple student cams OR have ability to cycle thru them - and to communicate private audio so as not to interrupt others

5. Assume 25 or fewer participants per session and a hosted environment (may need to self-host later)

Questions

1. Can the presenter area be used to satisfy 2-4?

2. I understand that videos must be FLV for replay in a shared pod - must they be flv upon upload or is there a conversion process?

3. Does the registration process have any ecommerce functionality, or is there some sort of API to handle payment externally and provide credentials to paid participants?.

4. Is there some sort of feed to display a schedule of sessions in another website? Something that shows all of the company's upcoming sessions with link to register.

5. Assume a company account with multiple presenters (instructors), each of whom will manage his own sessions. Is it possible to have some "corporate" control regarding policies, layouts, etc on a company account basis that will pertain to each presenter?

    1 - We have used pre-recorded videos in classroom sessions and it is an absolute "winner". Being able to stop, play a video recording and then return to a virtual classroom adds all sorts of positive dynamics to a room. There is one small thing that bugs me about the video and that is the video streams to different users at a different rates and not all the users finish at the same time. An easy work around is to use a voting poll so that people can vote once they have returned to the room. This is a minor issue and is not an Adobe Connect problem, it is more a bandwidth issue.

    2- Of course AC (Adobe Connect) can do this BUT careful planning will have to go into this. This sounds like one of those theoretical questions that have received a theoretical answer. I have found that training/teaching via an electronic medium needs lots of planning because it might not be as simple as it sounds.

    3- I am not sure I have seen a product out there that can do exactly what you are asking.

    4- AC (Adobe Connect) can achieve this by creating break out rooms - like Heyward suggested (cleaver thinking Heyward)

    As far as a training solution AC can perform all/most of what you are looking for. I have researched about 10 different products out there and I must say AC came out tops in my books. What really sells the AC product is how well it integrates with their other products and the Support is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!

    Under your questions point number 4 one can create a website or what we are in the process of doing is creating an AIR application that will cater for what you request and more.

    I'll answer what I can!!!

    1. Connect can allow uploading recorded video (FLV, SWF, MPG, M4V video formats. If you use Adobe Presenter, then you can use FLV, SWF, MOV, AVI files and they are converted on the fly to FLV in Connect)

    2. Fine...that is how a lot of customers use the solution

    3. You can move the webcam pod to the Presenters Only area but then the students would not see the presenter. However, you may want to evaluate the great TalkingStick pod from RefinedData posted on the Adobbe Connect Exchange. This Pod may be your answer and you can control the student webcams remotely!

    4. I've not see where we have private audio like that. You could use the Chat Pod for that but it would be private chatting...not audio. You could have private audio using the Breakout rooms option and the host could pop into up to 20 different rooms and have private audio there.

    5. Adobe Connect 8 SP1 can support 200 attendees per meeting with 20 breakout rooms now.

    Questions:

    1. No - Presenter area is just for hosts

    2. FLV or MPG or M4V is supported natively. Others would need to be converetd unless you use Adobe Presenter and that will convert other formats on the fly.

    3. No eCommerce capabilities. You would have to handle all that outside of Connect for now. Being looked at for next year maybe.

    4. Not that I have seen.

    5. Yes, there are tons of controls using Adobe Connect Central in the Compliance section.
