printing problem

in trying to print directly to my printer, the program now instructs to print to a file and ask for a file name. i don't want to "print to file". this is something new and i wonder if anybody has experienced the same problem and can help me solve it.

    It could mean the printer driver you are using has been changed updated, and now has the functionality to print to file. There is no visible box to uncheck that implies to print to file?
