Hello

I would be purchasing Adobe Connect Pro but I would like to know if its possible to upload and run content/course created in Courselab.

I have tried to create a short course for testing in courselab, i exported it all the possible options

1) Run from CD

2). Run under SCORM 1.2 LMS

3). Run under SCORM 2004 LMS

4). Run under AICC LMS

ALl of the above options created a zip file with contents in it.

The only zip file which successfully uploaded was "Run from CD"

Contents in CD.zip :

autorun.html

imsmanifest.xml

Folder = > 1 => start.html  ( this is the main file)

I ran the content in connect pro, it opened up the window, but it remained empty. I tried the same thing in my local directory on my computer and the course ran successfully.

I tried to test out a course created in udutu, and it worked perfectly.

I would like to know if anyone has successfully used content created in CourseLab in Adobe Connect Pro.

Alright, i tried OpenOffice Impress and created a few slides and exported it as

    1). SWF

    2). PPT Powerpoint

Both worked wonderfully with Connect Pro, no problems whatsoever.

So I tried saving it in Openoffice own extension which is .odp, and tried uploading it to Connect pro, it didnt recognize the file. Alright, so connect pro does not support OO right now.

Now since Slides created in Impress works, i need an Addon for Impress which would allow me to add Assessments/Quizzes etc  to the Slides.

Does anyone have any idea ?

    Ibn Saeed,

I would expect that the AICC-based content should work in Adobe Connect Pro.  Do you want to contact me off-list to see if we can get it working?  I wrote that article on getting SCORM-based content to work in Connect.

    Regards,

So i searched in google and found this :

Developing SCORM Content for Use in Connect Pro

    http://www.connectusers.com/tutorials/2009/01/scorm_tracking/

    Walkthrough:

    http://www.connectusers.com/tutorials/2009/01/scorm_tracking/SCORMtoConnect_samp les/SCORMtoConnect_Walkthrough/SCORMtoConnect_Walkthrough.htm

I followed the Walkthrough and it worked flawlessly on Adobe Connect Pro.

This time I exported the course in Courselab as SCORM 1.2 and just followed the above Walkthrough.

Though the above way worked, but there was manual steps that needed to be taken in order to prepare the content for Connect Pro.

Here are the steps in Text:

    • Extract the contents of the prototype into a folder
    • Copy the SCORM-based content into the “content” folder
    • Determine the name of the launch file from the SCORM-based content
    • Edit the file called “index.htm” that is found in the root of the Prototype files
    • Change a reference to the launch file (found on or around line 10) to reflect the actual name of the location and name of the SCORM-based launch file
      • var windowContent_str = "content/SCORM.htm";

    • Compress (zip) the root of the prototype files with the SCORM-based content
    • Import resulting zip file into the Content tab of Adobe Connect Pro

So you can see, there few a bunch of steps to follow each time SCORM content has to be uploaded to Connect Pro.

I am wondering if there is any Free alternatives to Adobe Presenter.

    June 11, 2010

I did a Google search on "adobe presenter open source" and found this http://www.nottingham.ac.uk/xerte/

    this site

    http://learningjourneys.wordpress.com/2008/10/28/xerte-free-elearning-development-tool/

states that "Similar to Adobe Presenter / Captivate and Articulate Presenter, Xerte publishes web-ready videos to html pages that call swf files (minus the price tag, of course)."

but it does not look like that it imports PPT or plugin to PPT.

not sure if you can publish the content to Connect.

    Hello Jimmy

    Thanks for the link

I did find it earlier and tried it but its a bit complicated compared to CourseLab.

I am also trying our eXe, MOS Solo, Xerte and ReCourse / ReLoad Editor

I think Ill give Xerte another try.
