Video Capture cards for Acrobat Connect

Our new conference room equipped with BlackMagic Intensity Pro cards will not work with the room's 720p video scheme. When reduced to NTSC composite video inputs, Skype works fine, but Acrobat Connect shows only the center of the video feed, and no video at all when the video pod's wide-screen option is chosen. We've tried upgrading to Flash 10.2.152.14 and tried Acrobat Connect 8 with the same results. Any ideas?

BTW, Blackmagic tech support consists of "we never thought of using our card with anything other than video editing software". Sigh...

With much struggle I've managed to get Osprey 100 cards to work with connect under Vista. Does anyone have a card recommendation to replace the Blackmagic Intensity Pro? If the card will process a 720p input and downsize it to work with Adobe Connect, it would solve all my problems, but even any card that works with NTSC composite signals would be a big improvement over "Blackmagic".

None, currently. And I'm sure that's the issue as it appears as if AC still can't handle anything more than 640x480 at 20fps (despite prior promises of fuller video robustness in releases after 9.1). I'm curious though how AC can see other webcams that send a higher resolution signal.

Unfortunately, the BM Intensity Shuttle doesn't allow a customizable output setting; the lowest it can go is 720x480 (and I'm assuming it's 60i).

Do you know of other software solutions that might down-rez in real time?

I have been using the Black Magic Intesity Pro PCIe cards in 3 machines to link VC conferences to Adobe Connect sessions for 1.5 years. I had to use the S-Video outputs on the VC codecs since the higher resolution outputs, VGA and HDMI, caused the Intesity Pro to output too high for the Adobe Connect video pod. At S-Video input it scaled to 640x480 easily as long as you have your video pod sized to around a minimum of 1/8th of the screen, any smaller and the image zoomed in from the actual image view. Two of the machinces had PCIe conflicts, probably IRQ, so I had to switch the PCIe slot the card was plugged into to get the Intensity Pro to operate properly. We use the Adobe Connect Hosted solution so I don't have access to the VC pod.

The trick, as I remember, was getting Flash to see the card. Make sure

that you have the most current driver for the video card, then download

the most current version of Flash and re-install it. That might solve your

    problem.

First, Adobe Connect was renamed a year ago.

Second, Adobe uses Osprey cards and that is the only card really tested internally that I am aware of. There are lots of others but you are on your own there.

The key here is to insure that the video is outputted to Adobe Connect at 640x480 resolution and nothing higher if using the video pod. You can go higher if using the RefinedData POD TalkingStick. Also, Adobe Connect handles 20 frames per second video at this time so do not exceed that number. You can go higher but the administrator would need to adjust the XML file associated with the Flash Media Server on the Connect Server to go 30 frames.

You cannot exceed that 640 resolution or you will get no video, get a black pod, or get partial video.

Future options will be coming for those that desire higher video options but those also come with higher bandwidth consumption which is a concern for corporate and government customers with limited network bandwidth.

The Adobe Connect 8 Video pod handles video up to 480p at 640x480 and it is sized at 4x3. If you desire HD then we have partners that have pod options they have higher resolution options and controls.  Adobe uses the OSPREY cards internally.

If you desire a contact from the partners, send me a note:  hdrummon@adobe.com

I'll pass on your information to our partners in this space.

    Hi,

We need in Adobe Connect a low latency 2 way videochat (720p) with Hd Camera source via Black Magic Intensity Pro capture card or Osprey.

Can You give me a solution for this?

    Thanks in advance!

I've recently had great success connecting a Viewcast Osprey 210 card to

    an ACP broadcast.
