What is status of Presenter? Alternatives?

Has Presenter been abandoned by Adobe? What happens when Flash is totally gone?

I am a basic user trying to share video lessons.  I only need a simple way to distribute presentations and related documents in one file.

My students now have so many problems viewing presenter files that I wind up just sending them links to raw video files in desperation.  Will they not be able to open the Presenter files at all after Flash is gone?

Any suggestions for a simple inexpensive way to distribute a video and handouts to a few hundred people?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

While not a primary focus, Adobe hasn't abandoned Presenter. Presenter 11.x will publish to HTML, so you shouldn't have a Flash dependancy for presentation output, unless there are Flash objects in your presentation.

The product that does get more time and development attention from Adobe is Captivate, which is kind of like Presenter's big brother. If Presenter isn't working for you, I'd consider switching. Otherwise, using a program like Camtaisa to capture the Presenter presentations in MP4 has worked pretty reliabably for me over the last few years.
