Why no "sign out" or "log out" button?

I have built an event, and this event sent participants a link to a curriculum after approval. When the student clicks on the link, he/she is invited to log in, then is presented what I call the "menu page" (I have no idea what Adobe calls it). This page has on the upper left, the items in the curriculum, on the lower left, the legend for the stuff above, and on the right, the detail for whichever item is highlighted: title, URL, course ID, summary, and so on.

The very first question that one of beta testers asked was, "Since I had to log in to see this page, where is the log out button?" A good question...any (good) reason why the design left out a "log out" button? Is they some way I can add a message here to just tell the student to close the window when done?

Hi Bill,

Good question.  Unfortuantely, there is no log out button on the curriculum page.  The only way to instruct the user to close the page is via the curriculum summary.

Thanks, Emily...but you have now inadvertently pointed out another problem...when I look at the Summary on the page above, I see that Connect is not doing the line breaks correctly...that is, at the end of the first line after the word "part", there are two more words "of the", ditto with all the other lines. There is no horizontal scroll bar - Connect just runs the text right off the right margin of the box...sigh...

Sheesh, I just tried it with IE (7, as I don't like to use IE at all), and the results are even worse: the phrase "part of the" is completely off the right margin of the box. Doesn't Adobe know how to format HTML? ;-)

Oh, and I tried to move the divider bar between the left and right boxes to provide more space for the box on the right...nope, it won't move any farther to the left...

That screen is called Adobe Connect Central. That is the portal that every user has access to their content. The logout button is on the right top side of the screen right before your name. In my case it says Loutout: Heyward Drummond.   You simply click your name to logout!

Thanks, but we don't appear to be to be talking about the same screen.

I see when I, as adminstrator, log in to manage the course, curricula, and all that stuff, how one sees one's name and logs out on the upper right...but when a student logs into an event, this is not the same screen that they see.

This is the screen that a student sees, and note that there were no scroll bars - this is the entire contents of the browser window..

Do you see what I mean now about no sign out or log out button?
