Windows 7 vs Request Control

I am having a problem where I cannot control many screens in Windows 7. Here is an example:

I connect with a user and have them share their screen and then request control. I want to open event viewer and check some stuff out. I can click to open event viewer, but once it is open I can't click on anything. It is like windows has locked me out. I feel like it is windows that would function at a higher level maybe something to do with security around windows 7. Is anyone else having these problems? is there anything I can do to get around this? I end up having to walk my users through everything. and while some things aren't too bad, a lot of stuff is a very long process compared to how fast I could do it.
