best way for external automation of substance painter?

Hi,

I am looking to see if I can do some automation in substance painter using python or commandLine.  I would like to open up substance painter and import in a 3d asset using an external script.  What would be the best way to do this?  Does substance painter have anything built in that i can access from an external script?
