Changing default blending mode

Hi

I want to know why the default blending mode of the Height channel of a new layer is Lighten(Max) or for the normal map is NMdt(Normal map detail) and is there any way to change these defaults to normal blending mode?

They are set that way so that they combine with the layer(s) below including baked layers. If you want to overwrite the layer(s) below then you could indeed set them to Normal, but that would mean losing that channel information from those other layers.
