Color spaces of exported textures (sRGB / linear)

Hello,
I would like to verify in what color spaces are different types of textures exported in different versions of Substance Painter.
Last somewhat comprehensive answer I was able to find is from 2015/16 and things may have changed since then.
If I understand correctly in some version of SP between 2020 and now "color management" (ACES etc.) was also introduced, that overrides original hardcoded system.
Please correct me if I understand something wrong.

I am mainly interested in how it works in SP versions 2020 and above.

In a forum post from 2015 and some other, it was described that texture images are exposted like this:
color texture - sRGB (gamma encoded)
emissive texture - sRGB (gamma encoded)
metallic - linear
rougness / smoothness - linear
transparency / opacity / aplha - ? - I presume linear
normal - linear

Is it still so in version 2020 and above ?
And if not, can you please list the new system ?

Thank you very much.

Whether you use the Legacy or OpenColorIO workflow, you cannot change which channels are color managed or not, and this is something that has been true since the first versions of Painter.

For a complete list of which channel is color managed or not, see: https://substance3d.adobe.com/documentation/spdoc/color-management-223053233.html#section5

So channels which aren't color managed are considered as data, aka no color transformation/raw. Roughly speaking you could say they are "Linear".

The only nuance now since version 7.4.0 is that Users can be color managed or not, depending on how they are configured. You can check the documentation for more information via the link above.

Thank you very much for information.

Just to be sure - so when using 'Legacy' Color management, we should take channels that are 'color managed' as exported in sRGB, gamma encoded.

Yes, exactly. 🙂
