Hi

Im baking down the normals of a character im working on, and have managed better than i could have hoped to be honest, specifically with the aid of a cage mesh. Ive never used one before and its amazing how well it works.

However.. im still getting some issues between the fingers 😞 .  Would anybody have any tips on how to treat the cage mesh in this instance? The fingers are so close together that im feeling its going to be quite hard

Hi @nickh74394646,

Thank you for the question.

There are two solutions to this problem.

1st you could edit the cage to make it closer to the mesh's geometry. This way, the cage won't overlap and not resulting with artifacts.

2nd you could split each fingers as a seperate sub-mesh and make a bake matching by names. This will prevent bleeding too.

hi - thanks.  Splitting them up sounds like an interesting way of dealing with it.  Ive oped for the lazy way in the end and have just painted out the errors 🙂
