Question

Import from Adobe Medium

Newbie question. I am exporting FBX from Medium. When I load into Substance Painter the model is one big mesh, all the layers are gone. I check the texture set list and there is only the default material.

If I import the same model into Cinema 4D all the layers are present and I can add material to each of them.

No doubt it is my error but I can't for the life of me figure out what I am doing wrong in Substance Painter.

Any help appreciated.

Some progress. If I export to C4D and then give each layer a material, then export the FBX, the import into SP respects the layers (each material is listed). So I guess there must be a way to do this exporting direct from Medium to SP without needing C4D. Any suggestions please?

Can you try exporting from Medium with textures materials rather than vertex color? This should prevent Painter from merging the layers on import.

Thanks Jeremie. Have tried that already, but tried again just in case. No joy. The Painter error I get is "[Scene 3D] [FBX] : Mesh tangents are invalid (some values are null) and will be recomputed".  Any suggestions?

Cheers
