Hi there.
I intend to purchase substance painter from Steam. Before I do that, I wanna know about the license.
1: what is this Perpetual license?
2: updates are only available up to the end of 2024? Which means I can't get an update after that? But I will be able to use the software?
3: am I able to sell 3d models wich are textured using painter(Perpetual license) on marketplaces like cgtrader?

Hello @luna243263043yox.,

Thank you for your message.

I can reassure you, there's no trick. The perpetual license is what the name suggest. As you mentioned, this is a Substance license for a single app (Painter, Designer or Modeler) where you have access to the year of purchase updates. When the year of purchase is over, you'll have no more updates, but you'll still be able to use the software as much as you want.

The only difference I can point out is that you won't have the "Send to" feature, because it's working with the Creative Cloud Desktop app.

Regarding selling 3D models on marketplaces, it's not forbidden with a Steam license. If you want to go more in detail with the legal aspect of a Steam license, here's the End User License Agreement.

1: Which means, I am able to use perpetual license to sell the 3d models until my annual gross revenues not excess of US$10,000. Please correct me if get that wrong.
2: am I able to share those contents (3D model/material) which I made under perpetual license any way (as a paid or free) in the market place?
3: do I need to be responsible for the usage of end user?
