Screen recording dialogue box

I just got the newest version of substance painter (9.1.1) and i'm having trouble with the screen recording option.

I have a mac and it says that I have to allow substance painter access to the screen recording option. However, it just simply does not register. Which does not allow me to start the early baking process...

I have restarted my computer, gave it access multime times, I have restarted the program multime times as well. But still the problem persists. 

Does anyone know how i could be able to fix this??

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to reproduce the issue on my end. Just to be clear, you're receiving the log warning "Screen recording is required..." every time you open the application, regardless of your Mac settings?

 

I'm convinced this is due to some Mac security parameter we don't think about. I'll check with the team if someone has a lead.

Hey Cyril,

Just wanted to keep this support chat going because the issue is still persisting one year later. 
I bought Substance Painter 2024 through steam last year on my M2 Macbook, and cannot find a fix for the above issue.

Even though I've given Substance Painter access to all security parameters available in Privacy & Security the pop-up log box still shows an orange dialogue indicating that Screen Recording isn't enabled for Substance when it clearly is. 

 



Normally, I wouldn't really care since a log is a log, and warnings are fairly common in some applications. However, this bug completely removes a feature promised with my purchase. The feature being the ability to use color picker on a reference image outside of the application. Because substance cant screen record, it cant capture the Mac's display frame with the approppriate color values to choose from. 

I also confirmed this works on Window's since my Steam account is on both machines. 

ANY support would be great on this, I cannot find any information online regarding this. Other than this abandoned support thread.

    I have also had this issue for just as long as the original poster. In both 2023, 2024, 2025 Substance Painter. It refuses to register that I’ve done what the log asked it to and added its permissions to my System settings.

    It has now started interrupting other application use on Mac. It takes control over audio when you use buttons related to this setting, like the eyedropper tool. I’m on an M4 Mac Pro 2025.
