Question

Shopping for a Substance 3D workstation

I'm shopping for a Substance 3D workstation.  On the system requirements page I noticed this:

  • Integrated GPUs are not supported.

Does that pretty much rule out laptops?

Is there a full list of compatible hardware somewhere that I can check?

Any advice on shopping for a Substance 3D workstation appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi

You can see the full system requirements here, I'd go with the recommended requirements

https://substance3d.adobe.com/documentation/spdoc/technical-requirements-172824034.html

Laptops can be purchased with dedicated GPU's, most gaming laptops have these, so laptops are not ruled out

Thanks for that.  I've found some options that sound like they'd work well, but the exact GPUs don't appear on the system requirements page.

Would a Nvidia RTX 2080 Super Max-Q 8GB work (with an intel i7)?

Would a Nvidia RTX 3060 6GB work (with an intel i7)?

What about a Nvidia RTX 3060 6GB (with an AMD Ryzen 7 )?

All are laptop GPUs.

Would one work significantly better than the others?

You can see a comparison between the two GPU's here

I have the RTX2060 Super 8GB desktop version and Substance Painter runs fine with that
