Question

Substance Painter crashes every time I save after update 11.1 yesterday.

Ever since the update yesterday every time I save any Substance Painter project be it new or old it the program crashes. Luckly it does save before it crashes but its annying to keep working if I want to save while working.

 

Im on a MacBook Pro M3 Max 128GB memory.

To keep everyone posted, the 11.1.1 coming update should fix this saving issue, but let us know if the problem persists.

My program crashes whenever I try to open my older projects.

This is indeed one of the issue we're having with 11.1 and MAC OS. Hopefully, the 11.1.1 already has a fix and the update is coming soon.

I have the exact same issue on an M1 Max MBP, but was also able to reproduce it on a Windows machine. It happens when using FIle>Save on 11.1 to overwrite an existing file created with an older version of Substance. Files created with the newer version don't seem to have problems. It also doesn't occur when using File>Save as..., so as a workaround I have been using Save as... on affected files, saving it with a new name, and then later deleting the original and renaming the new file with that name, so regular Save works fine.

Thank you for your report.

 

Can you maybe send me the log file after such a crash occurs? You'll find it in /Users/[username]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe Substance 3D Painter

 

Also, if you have a crash report window appearing after relaunching the application, I strongly advise you to fill it and let us your e-mail address. This way, will have way more info than a simple log and we'll be able to contact you back.

Ive submitted a few times. Whats odd is If I go into the folder you suggested there are reports for Stager but not Painter. ALso since it crashes on clsoe Im not seeing anything int he window within the program.
