symmetry settings

hi, im currently working in substance 3d painter to texture a roman banner. ive basically got everything textured but the logo im putting in the middle. i want to use the symmetry tool to do it, but it is centred in the wrong direction and i am unable to change the settings. i try and click on the settings icon and the settings menu comes up for a split second, and if i try and hold it down all the settings are darkened and unusable.

can anyone give me any help here?

    the symmetry tool is for a paint layer with a brush.
    So Can you give more details or a screenshot if possible?

    If you use a resource logo as a fill layer by using a fill layer then the projection mode can be planar and then you should be able to rotate it.
