Texturing Large Areas

Hi !

 

I'm working on a new project, I'm reproducing the Rivoli street in Paris and I'm actually working on the Road.

The Paris's Streets are very large and I wondering how to texture the road ?

Even creating 10 Uv's in 4K of the street the quality is too low...

How to do ?

Usually for such big environmental object you would want to use tiling textures and trim sheets. Both are done via manipulating UV maps of the object to reuse the same texture over several parts of the mesh. Sometimes it is combined with vertex painting to break the tiling and add details. You can look up "The Ultimate Trim: Texturing Techniques of Sunset Overdrive" and general UV and texturing techniques for big environments.
