Hello there,

When importing a mesh in Substance,  areas groups are based on materials. But what is the best way to manage areas that need to keep separated names? I explain :

If I'm creating a human, the whole body : head, arms, legs, body need UV tile workflow to avoid hard transitions. But the UVmaps area will still needs to be available by name.

Hi @arthenics,

If a get you well, you want to work with the UV tile workflow to paint across your UVs, but also to keep the possibility to isolate some part of your mesh.

Hopefully, Substance Painter doesn't lack of options to isolate certain parts of your mesh. On each layer or group, you can hit the thumbnail button on the right and choose by mesh name which part to work on.

Or, you can simply add a mask to a layer/group, and with the polygon fill tool select some UV island from your UV map.

I hope this will help you.

Have a nice day,

Hello,

In fact, my question is about this :

Here body represents : body, arms, legs and head

Here everything is separated (and tile workflow doesn't work, but that's the "final" product):

The thing is I need both. Since people manage to deal with this kind of constraint, I guess there's some kind of workflow that allow to do this.
