Question

Unable to Turn on Visibility for Other Texture Sets After Project Configuration

Hello Substance Painter Community!

I needed to update my model, as a subtool within that model needed editing, but when I went to import it back into Substance Painter, it wouldn't allow me to click, view, or even pull up the other subtools/textures I baked from the original model. When exporting and importing, I made sure to use the exact subtool name and suffix for low and high resolution, but the problem with editing other textures still exists. Help?

Many thanks,

EH

Hi Elizabeth,

Thanks for the message.

Have you changed the Materials/Polygroups, of your model? The Texture Sets are generated by material ID, so changing one of these parameters could change the project structure.

Also, could you share some visuals? A screenshot of the project could help.

Best regards,

Dear Cyril,

Thank you for your reply! I think I have the importing files figured out--I had another question in regards to a problem with painting on my model: attached is an image of a model I am working on. Whenever I apply a stroke, it ends up with a spotty trail...I am painting onto the model itself because whenever I try to use the symmetry tool on the actual material maps, it seems that the stroke I paint on one side of the wing gets mirrored on the front side of the opposite wing. Are there any alternatives, and am I utilizing the symmetry tool wrong?
Best,

EH

The character is probably not perfectly symmetrical. A slight change or rotation could end up with a "false" symmetry, which can become obvious when working on specific spots.

You could try to turn off the Backface Culling parameter of your brush. Considering the strokes are still painted on the other side of the mesh, turning off the Backface Culling may help.
