Car Wrapping

Hello everybody!

I have a car wrap in jpg and I have the car model in Dimensions but I can't find the way to import it as a material, only as a graphic.

How do I wrap the graphic in jpg as a material on the model?

Thanks!

Hello!

To get that "wrapped" look in Adobe Dimension rather than just a floating sticker, you actually want to apply your JPG as a Base Color within a material, rather than using the "Place Graphic" command.

Here is the quickest way to do it:

  1. Select your car model in the scene.

  2. Go to the Actions panel and click the Select Material icon (or double-click the car part).

  3. In the Properties panel on the right, look for the Base Color option.

  4. Click the small image/color square next to Base Color, and select Image.

  5. Upload your JPG wrap design here.

Pro Tip for Realism: Once the image is on, you’ll likely need to adjust the UV Placement (Offset and Repeat) to make it line up with the car's body lines. Also, make sure to crank up the Metallic and Gloss settings in the material properties! To get a better idea of how different finishes should look under studio lighting, I often reference professional palettes of wrapping car colours to see how matte vs. high-gloss vinyl interacts with reflections.

If your JPG isn't lining up correctly, you might need to export the UV template from Dimension, overlay your wrap in Photoshop, and then re-import it as the Base Color.

Hope this helps you get that render looking sharp!

In Adobe Dimension, you can't use a JPG file as a full material (like a full car wrap). It only works as a graphic, which means it goes on like a sticker, not all over the car.

  1. Use the JPG as a Sticker (Graphic)
    1. Click on your car model.
  2. Drag your JPG file onto the car.
  3. You can move it around, make it bigger or smaller, and place it where you want.

This is good if you're adding a logo or small design.

you can also adjust the decal size so that it doesn't tile i.e, one single big image

Plese review these 2 videos.

When you placed graphic you can choos that graphic in scene panel and go to "Fill" option for graphics in property panel.

Or you can choose material icon, open panel and load your image as material.
